Dione Juno Butterfly

Dione juno, also known as the Juno silverspot, Juno longwing, or Juno heliconian, is a species of butterfly found in the Americas, ranging from the southern United States to South America. The dorsal (upper) surface of its wings is a vibrant reddish-orange, edged and veined with black. The underside of the wings is light reddish-brown and is patterned with silvery-white streaks and spots. The butterfly typically flies quickly and erratically, and favors open, sunny areas, often found in tropical forests. Its caterpillars are black, covered in orange spots and black spines. The chrysalids are wrinkled and brown, and are often seen hanging from branches, resembling dead leaves.
