Morpho Sulkowskyi Butterfly

Morpho sulkowskyi, also known as Sulkowsky's Morpho, is a fascinating butterfly species native to the Neotropical region. It is found specifically in the cloud forests of the Andes mountains in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It is a specialist of this high-altitude habitat, thriving at elevations above 800 to 1,500 meters, and as high as 3,500 meters. Interestingly, Morpho sulkowskyi and Morpho lympharis are the only Morpho species known to inhabit these specific cloud forest environments.
